The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) renovated the dental unit at Butenga HC IV and a classroom block at Buyinjayinja Primary School in Bukomansimbi district. The Army embarked on improving on the health standards and living conditions of the residents, as one of the tarehe sita activities and a National key priority pointed out by the Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF H.E Gen(Rtd) Kaguta Museveni during the Council meeting which was held at the Land Forces Headquarters in Bombo.
The Minister of State for Tourism, Hon . Godfrey Ssuubi Kiwanda presided over the hand over of the two classroom blocks and dental unit. He thanked the UPDF Leadership for choosing Bukomansimbi District as one of the District aimed at cementing the bond between the UPDF and the Civilian population.
Subi further lauded the residents for maintaining a strong partnership with the Army, noting that this ideological and strategic relationship is ideal for social economic transformation.
The Deputy Commander Land Forces Maj Gen Sam Kavuma thanked the people of Bukomansimbi for their unwavering support that they offered to both the non-combatant and combatant fighters during the liberation struggle, noting that the success of the war was of unconditional support. He further applauded them for their endless support towards the NRA and UPDF noting that without their support, the liberation struggle wouldn’t have been a success.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mrs Teopista Lule Senkungo thanked the UPDF Engineering brigade team for such great work they have done to their school. “We highly appreciate you for a two room classroom block having been constructed at our school. St. Luke Buyinjayinja Primary School is now shinning, you will be remembered all the time in Buyinjayinja and generally in Bukomansimbi District. Let your efforts be rewarded, long live UPDF Soldiers, long live our Government.” Said the RDC.
The Headmistress of St. Luke Buyinjayinja Primary School Miss Nakubuye Agnes in her speech applauded the UPDF for the giving heart that will see schools in the Region improve their education standards. She went ahead and praised UPDF Engineers Brigade for exhibiting high levels of discipline as they did the engineering works in the Region.
The District Health Officer (DHO) of Butenga HC IV Bukomansimbi Region commended the Engineering Brigade for the efforts in executing UPDF works, he lauded the Armed Forces for renovating the dental unit and constructing of the maternity ward and bathrooms at the facility. He noted that such developments, are aimed as extending health services at the Health Centre will enhance Socio-economic transformation of the people of Uganda.
The Residents expressed gratitude for the Army’s involvement and relationship in life saving missions.
Meanwhile both the Minister of State for Tourism, Hon Godfrey Ssuubi Kiwanda and Maj Gen Sam Kavuma planted mango a trees at St Luke Buyinjayinja Primary School as a memorial.
UPDF is currently involved in long symbolic Civil-Military activities to mark the 40th Tarehe Sita Anniversary in the Greater Masaka District. This will culminate into the main celebrations on the 6th of Feb 2021 at the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs(MODVA) Headquarters in Mbuya.
