Results from COVID-19 tests done on 28 August 2020 records one COVID-19 death, a Ugandan female aged 45 years old and a resident of Kampala. The total COVID-19 deaths now stands at 29.
The test also confirms 91 new COVID-19 cases according to the Ministry of Health bringing the cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans to 2,847
The breakdown of the 91 new cases are as summarized below:
Contacts and alerts are 88:
Kampala- 44, Luweero – 18, Kikuube- 6, Wakiso- 5, Tororo- 3, Ntoroko- 3, Jinja- 3, Kitgum- 2, Buikwe- 1, Gulu- 1, Lira- 1, Mukono- 1, 1 health worker from Luweero and 2 truck drivers who arrived via Malaba
On the other hand, 3 foreign truck drivers were tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted.
The total number of Ugandan recoveries now stands at 1,288
Points of Entry samples were 1,073, Samples from contacts and alerts were 3,402 and Total samples tested on a single day totaled to 4,475.
